10 Decorating Styles I Love

Let's face it, with Christmas getting closer we are all looking for a little holiday decoration inspiration! In this blog post, I am going to highlight 10 styles (in no particular order) that I think are all timeless and will work from season-to-season, at least in some form. Their longevity is one of the reasons I love these styles. I will share original links back to the photo sources and for your reading pleasure, the rest of this post is photo-heavy with minimal commentary from me. Enjoy!

1. RUSTIC / PLAID / COUNTRY

Is anyone else mad for plaid? What's not to love about these colors and patterns that invoke such a warm, cozy, cabin-like feeling with their soft flannel textures and festive hues.

2. COASTAL CHRISTMAS

Okay, I have to be honest, the Coastal Christmas style is my own personal favorite. This beach girl loves her fresh evergreens....but she also loves her beachy-decor. This style blends the best of both worlds! The white starfish, shells and turquoise colors all pop nicely against the natural greenery.

3. MONOCROMATIC

Pick one color and run with it! Sticking with one color throughout all your decorating pieces really ties the entire space together.

4. ALL WHITE

Speaking of monochromatic...going with all-white is so amazing that I put it as its own style altogether. Void of any other color to distract the eye, your notice subtle effects of light and texture that you only see with an all white palette.

5. NEUTRALS

When sticking with a neutral palette of black, white, brown (or taupe), ivory, gray, etc...you create a clean, classic style that puts the focus on the fresh greenery. Simple and beautiful and it works with every room.

6. GLAM HOLIDAYS

Everyone needs a little sparkle and shine! Glam up your holidays with this elegant and beautiful style! Light gold, rose gold, vintage gold.....any shade works in this color scheme.

7. HOLIDAY BRIGHTS

When the days are short make them a bit brighter with this style during the holidays. So fun and festive and uplifting.

8. RETRO / VINTAGE / NOSTALGIC

There is just something special about the style of decorations my parents and grandparents used and maybe that is why I like this one so much. It brings back memories! I must not be alone because kitschy/retro/vintage is all the rage with lots of tinsel and blast-from-the-past ornaments and decor.

9. TRADITIONAL

Nothing ever says Christmas quite like red, green, and white along with fresh evergreens and big red velvet bows. Plain. Simple. Perfect.

10. MIXED METALS

Last but not least, from silver bells to golden balls, mixed metals are the perfect style when you want elegant shine from a neutral palette.

I hope you have enjoyed these 10 styles and that they have inspired you to take these looks and make them your own by incorporating your unique vibe. Enjoy and please share photos with us of your spaces...we love to see them!
